Manglik Dosha check, Mangal Dosha, Kuja Dosha, Mangal Dosha cancellation
Manglik Dosha (Mangal Dosha), explained without the fear
Manglik Dosha is one of the most over-diagnosed labels in Kundli matching. Understanding the rule, and its many cancellations, matters more than the scary headline.
What Manglik or Kuja Dosha means
Manglik Dosha, also called Mangal Dosha or Kuja Dosha, is the placement of Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. These houses relate to self, family, home, marriage, longevity and bed pleasures, so an aggressive Mars here is traditionally said to stress marriage and harmony.
A careful reading checks Mars not just from the Lagna but also from the Moon and from Venus. A placement that is Manglik from the ascendant may not be from the Moon, which changes the verdict.
Why it is tied to marriage
Mars is energy, drive and friction. The 7th house and its surroundings govern partnership. When Mars sits in or aspects these zones, the tradition warns of temper, impatience or separation pressure if both partners are not matched.
But Mars is also courage, protection and passion. In many strong charts the same placement gives drive and loyalty rather than conflict.
Cancellations and the over-diagnosis problem
Classical Jyotish lists many Manglik Dosha cancellations, known as Mangal Dosha bhanga: Mars in its own sign or exalted, Mars in certain signs, both partners being Manglik, specific aspects from benefics, and more. A large fraction of charts flagged as Manglik are effectively cancelled once these are applied.
The real problem is tools that print a red Manglik warning from the Lagna alone and ignore every cancellation. That creates needless anxiety in matchmaking.
How PI checks Manglik honestly
PI computes Mars's house position from all three reference points, the Lagna, the Moon and Venus, and reports the configuration rather than a one-word scare. You can see whether Mars is genuinely afflicting the marriage axis or whether dignity and aspects soften it.
You can then ask the AI to weigh the placement against cancellations and the 7th house, Venus and Jupiter, instead of trusting a single automated flag.
