Sutra 2.6
गुरुपायः
Personalised to your chart
Translation The means is the Guru.
Meaning In the stage of Shaktopaya, where the seeker's will has grown strong but still requires a channel for its full expansion, the Guru is identified as the very method itself. This does not merely point to a physical person standing before you, but to the awakened consciousness that recognizes no separation between the teacher, the teaching, and the truth being taught. When the disciple's readiness aligns with the Master's grace, the distinction between the one who guides and the path being walked dissolves; the Guru becomes the living doorway through which Shakti flows unimpeded.
This sutra reveals that true guidance is not an external instruction added to your mind, but an internal resonance awakened by presence. The Guru functions as the mirror that reflects your own divine nature back to you so clearly that doubt cannot survive. In this non-dual view, relying on the Guru is not an act of dependency on another, but a surrender to the universal intelligence that operates through the form of the teacher to dismantle the illusion of the separate self.
Contemplation Throughout your day, whenever you encounter a moment of confusion or a decision point, pause and silently ask, "What would the voice of pure awareness say here?" Treat this inner prompt not as your own limited thought, but as the immediate guidance of the Guru within. Act on that clarity instantly, trusting that the intelligence guiding you is the same consciousness that permeates the entire universe, thereby turning every action into an offering to the Teacher.
A contemplative reading in the spirit of the Kashmir Shaivism (Trika / non-dual Tantra) tradition — an aid to reflection, not a substitute for a living teacher or the classical commentaries.
