Sutra 3.36

भेद तिरस्कारे सर्गान्तर कर्मत्वम्

Translation When difference is set aside, one becomes an agent of another creation.

Meaning This sutra points to the moment where the contracted sense of separation dissolves. In the ordinary state, the individual soul perceives itself as distinct from Shiva and from the world, acting only within the limits of its own karma and dualistic perception. The phrase "bheda tiraskare" signifies the forceful or graceful rejection of this illusion of difference. It is not merely an intellectual understanding that all is one, but a visceral dismissal of the barrier between the subject and the object, the worshiper and the worshipped.

Once this veil of separation is torn away, the practitioner's agency undergoes a radical transformation. The phrase "sargantara kartratvam" reveals that the individual no longer acts as a limited doer bound by past impressions. Instead, one becomes an instrument or a co-creator of a "different creation." This new creation is not a physical remodeling of the universe, but the manifestation of reality as a play of consciousness. The yogi begins to act from the fullness of the Divine Will, where every action serves to reveal the underlying unity rather than reinforce separation. The world is no longer a place of bondage but a field for the spontaneous expression of Shiva's creative freedom.

Contemplation Throughout your day, pause whenever you feel a sharp sense of opposition or separation from a person, a situation, or your own thoughts. In that instant, consciously dismiss the validity of that divide by silently asserting, "This distinction is an illusion." Then, ask yourself: "If I were acting not from my small self, but from the wholeness of consciousness, how would I respond to this moment?" Allow your next action to arise from that spaciousness, observing how the quality of your doing changes when you refuse to acknowledge the barrier between yourself and the whole.

A contemplative reading in the spirit of the Kashmir Shaivism (Trika / non-dual Tantra) tradition — an aid to reflection, not a substitute for a living teacher or the classical commentaries.
