Sutra 3.30
Translation The universe is the accumulation and unfolding of one's own power.
Meaning This sutra declares that the entire cosmos experienced by the limited individual (the anu) is nothing other than the expansion of their own śakti. The world of names and forms, of objects and others, of time and space — all that appears to stand outside the self is revealed as the self's own energy taking shape through its own power of self-projection. The word pracaya carries the sense of accumulation, increase, and unfolding: the universe is the śakti of the anu spreadingitself out into apparent multiplicity.
In the Anavopaya, the path of the individual, the practitioner begins to recognize that the world they have taken to be external and other is in fact their own energy crystallized through the contraction of limited awareness. The anu's sense of smallness, separation, and finitude is itself a mode of śakti — the same power that, when recognized as one's own, becomes the very means of liberation. What was experienced as bondage is seen to be the self's own display.
This recognition does not deny the world; it reveals the world's true status. The universe does not vanish — it is beheld as the self's own radiant play, no longer opaque, no longer alien. The same energy that bound the anu to narrow selfhood, when illumined by awareness, becomes the spaciousness of the universal. The contraction and the expansion are one śakti, known from two standpoints.
Contemplation Today, when you encounter something — a person, an object, a difficulty — pause briefly and ask inwardly: whose power is this appearing as? Notice how the very energy of perception, thought, and feeling is your own, arising in you. Rest for a moment in that recognition, allowing the sense of "other" to soften into "own." Even a brief glimpse of this is the seed of the anu's awakening.
A contemplative reading in the spirit of the Kashmir Shaivism (Trika / non-dual Tantra) tradition — an aid to reflection, not a substitute for a living teacher or the classical commentaries.
